It’s easy to get involved in Shelter of Peace, and it’s important to do so.
Join with 100+ of your colleagues in the Shelter of Peace network and you and your congregation will become part of the movement to end youth homelessness in New York City once and for all. Get the monthly newsletter to help keep you up to date. Go to the website each week to see what’s new. Let us know what you and your congregation are planning and we will post it on the Shelter of Peace website. Attend briefings, forums, rallies and marches. Send email and letters to your legislators.
As individuals we have our passion and our sense or right and wrong. We have limited resources and their reach is limited. Alone, we can organize a clothing drive, prepare a flyer or maybe open a few beds in our facilities. These are all wonderful things to do, but with 100+ other Churches and Synagogues we can get media attention. We can organize a rally and have 5,000 people come to it. we can tell each other what works and spread the word. We can write to the Governor or Mayor and get them to see us.
The City and State of New York are not providing essential services to the Homeless Youth population in our State. We should not and must not put up with it. Please join us and then tell your congregations what they can do to help. Join Shelter of Peace today.
