A conversation with Phoenix Rising Kawamoto presented by the Monica Ministry (Domestic Violence) and Glad Tidings, the LGBT Ministry Team of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Phoenix Kawamoto MSW, is a social worker and prevention professional who has been working in the field of prevention for over 20 years. During that time, she has worked extensively in the classroom with youth in grades K-12, as well as with educators, parents, administrators and community members who are striving to make a difference.

Our guest is currently working with faculty and students within the Mid-Hudson region to: Reduce Peer Abuse; Provide Diversity Education; Support the Dignity for All Students Act; Enhance understanding and cultivate compassion for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender and queer /questioning youth.

During the course of this round table we will discuss: Peer Abuse Dynamic; Prevalence; Impact of Peer Abuse (Aggressor, Recipient and Bystanders); Prevention and Intervention Strategies.
